The Spurs handled the Kings today, putting the game essentially out of reach in the first quarter. The Kings made a nice run thorughout the third quarter to cut the lead to 13 and make it a game, but the Spurs were able to dig their heels in the ground, stop the run, and extend the lead. Particularly impressive for me was the debut in a Spurs uniform of Ime Udoka, brought in from portland, and Ian Mahinmi, the French import. Ime played extended minutes, while Ian was in for just the last five. However he had an immediate impact with a three-point play, and two quick blocks, and ended up with five points. Most impressive was Ian's athleticism, and the effort the bench guys like Mahinmi and Darius Washington are bringing. It's going to allow them to maintain sustained defensive intensity down the road. I like what I'm seeing so far in this early part of the season.
